NWACC's Writing Center helps you advance your educational goals. Services include face-to-face consultations in the Learning Commons or on Microsoft Teams, as well as online reviews of papers, which focus on all steps in the writing process: prewriting, drafting, revising and editing.
Services help you recognize and produce clear and logical essays, utilize appropriate research techniques, and avoid plagiarism. Consultants will read and respond to your writing by offering suggestions on how to improve your drafts. They will not proofread or “fix” writing, write a paper for you, or tell you what grade you should receive. The center's services supplement and scaffold classroom training to ensure your assignment requirements are covered.
The center also offers support to NWACC English faculty as they teach all levels of the composition process.

Face-to-Face Consultation
Log in to the Learning Commons using the kiosk by the front door. Be sure to bring a printed copy of your draft and your assignment sheet.
Writer Resources
Browse multiple resources on documentation guides for MLA, APA, Chicago, CSE, ASA and I-Search papers, and Packback (an online instructional AI writing assistant platform), as well as videos and grammar exercises.
Papers will be reviewed during the open hours of the Writing Center only. Any papers due on the weekend or early Monday need to be submitted by noon on Wednesday. Writing Center consultants typically need 48 hours to review submissions, excluding weekends, so please plan accordingly.
To schedule an appointment with an online tutor, log into MyNWACC and select “Online Tutoring” from the navigation panel. Then, click “Tutoring: Make an Appointment” on the page. Use the form to schedule your meeting with your online tutor.
To submit a paper online, log into MyNWACC and select “Online Tutoring” from the navigation panel. Then, click “Submit your paper for review” on the page. Use the form to submit your paper to the Writing Center.
Be sure to submit a Word document. When using Google Docs, be sure to convert your paper to a Word Doc before submission, as PDF files cannot be reviewed. Consultants review papers Monday through Thursday only, so please submit your paper by Wednesday if you need the paper for the weekend.
